Liblikapeenar /Butterfly bed |
Liblikasuvi on alles kogumas tuure.
Summary: Butterfly Whispering
In my opinion, bees and butterflies are at least half of the fun of gardening. I love how much life and movement they bring to the garden. So it's not any news either that I try to be in my plant choices as wildlife friendly as possible. At least bee and butterfly friendly. For that reason I have observed plants in different gardens and situations and also explored written pieces on subject. Based on these, I have made my choices. Now however, it is interesting to see what works wonders and what rather disappoints.
So what's in bloom currently and what are the greatest attractors in my garden? To make it short, telekia, drumstick alliums and sempervivums are most favourable plants among bees and butterflies this week. But different species prefer different blooms. So telekias are popular among brimstone butterflies and yellow bumblebees as alliums are favoured by brown bumblebees and small tortoiseshells.
At the same time my purposefully composed butterfly beds are still in wait of their high time, as echinaceas, echinopses and buddleias are still jet to bloom. So as the butterfly season progress my bed should be ready for them. One that is already in bloom and was expected to be a major bee magnet - Eryngium planum has proved to be somewhat failure. Only some bumble bees are visiting it. But I'll keep going my observations and keep you updated. Such an interesteing subject simply must have some more insight.
Sinu blogi on alati huvitav jälgida, väga hea kvaliteediga pildid ning informatiivne tekst. Head putukafotojahti!
VastaKustutaRoosid on kimalastele vägagi meeltmööda. Liblikad võib-olla peavad roose ilult rivaalideks ning hoiavad pigem eemale. Eks tegelikult on lihtsalt sellisesse õievahtu keeruline maanduda.
KustutaSuured putukatemagnetid on päevakübarad ja iisop.
VastaKustutaJaa, iisop on mul veel puudu, kuid mõned hiidiisopid said kevadel mulda ning osalevad suures katses!
KustutaLove your butterfly bed, Tistou!
VastaKustutaI have one plant Ligularia dentata 'Otello' it's fully ocuped by butterflies. Very pretty.
Your photos are great and I can imagine how much patience you have taking them.
Thank you Nadi!
KustutaLigularias are good plants for bees and butterflys. Unfortunately they are rather big and I haven't managed to fit them to my rather tiny beds.
Taking photos of bees and butterflies takes patience, but I enjoy it nevertheless.
Kõige suuremaks narkootikumiks kõigile mummidel on maralijuur
VastaKustutaVahva tegelane seal ogaputkel!
